WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (OCT. 3, 2024)—The Carolina Classic Fair will have a truck at its main entrance on Opening Weekend—October 4, 5 and 6—to collect much-needed items for storm relief efforts in the North Carolina mountains.  Items will be collected from gate opening time until 8 p.m. each of the three days.

The Carolina Classic Fair is partnering with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department for the collection initiative.  The Sheriff’s Department will monitor collections and handle delivery of the items to areas in need.  Bringing items October 4, 5 and 6 does not result in free admission to the Carolina Classic Fair.

All items will be accepted, but the following are in greatest need:

  • Water
  • Baby Formula
  • Diapers (Baby/Toddler/Adult)
  • Individually Packaged Snacks
  • Batteries
  • Trash Bags
  • Band Aids
  • Toothbrushes/Toothpaste
  • Washcloths/Towels
  • Socks (All sizes/New)
  • Dog and Cat Food
  • Disinfectant Wipes

The Carolina Classic Fair urges those who prefer to make monetary contributions to direct them to the American Red Cross at redcross.org/donate/dr/hurricane-helene.html.

Additional disaster relief efforts are planned during the Carolina Classic Fair.

On Deer Park® Spring Water School Day—Monday, October 7—school supplies collected will be shared with affected areas of the mountain region.  After school supplies are collected, 75% of them will be redirected to disaster relief while 25% remain in Forsyth County. On School Day, fairgoers who bring three new and packaged school supplies each will receive free admission to the fair.

Crisis Control is also supporting hurricane relief efforts. In addition, Crisis Control will offer support, including food and prescription medication, to those who are impacted and displaced to Forsyth and Stokes counties. Suggested items are canned meats, canned vegetables, dried or canned beans, instant potatoes, and instant grits—anything that is shelf-stable and not in glass jars. Fair attendees who contribute five non-perishable food items on Wednesday, October 9, will receive one free admission ticket to the fair for that day.
