Today we’re introducing one of our new categories for Competitive Entry at the fair this year: Caps for Cancer! This category has double the incentive; a blue ribbon AND the chance to do some good in the community 👏 It doesn’t matter if you’re 8 or 80, this competition is open to everyone!

Knit or crochet a cap that will be donated to a cancer patient at the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center. Please read all of the entry information before starting your cap. More information can be found at our competitive entry site, which is linked in our bio

Fun fact: in 2023 we had over 19,000 competitive entries in the fair!

How cute are these decorated pumpkins, apples, and potatoes? YOU can decorate your very own pumpkin, apple, or potato for this year's fair!! 🎃🥔🍎 This year's theme is "America: Red, White, and Blue!" 🇺🇸 (Political messaging or affiliation will be disqualified)

NEW to Competitive Entry this year: Dog and Cat Clothing! 🐕🐈 If you're crafty with fiber arts, try your hand at creating a sweater or outfit for your beloved four-legged friend!

Sweaters/outfits can be knitted, crocheted, embellished with embroidery or cross-stitching, or made with fabric. The options are endless!

All entries must be made by September 1, but you have until September 28 to create your outfit! Your outfit will be returned to you after the fair just in time for your dog or cat to keep warm going into fall and winter! Find more information at the Competitive Entry link in our bio! Celebrate the nation’s natural wonders, cultural diversity, and everyday heroes. 🇺🇸 Whether you’re inspired by the beauty of the Grand Canyon or trying to shake off a post-Olympics slump, let your creativity flow! 🖊 Political messaging and affiliations will be disqualified.

Both the entry form and the essay/poem must be submitted by September 1. Essays and Poems are separate categories, so if entering both, two entries will be needed to enter.

If you have a sweet or savory pie recipe, enter it in the @mawmawschickenpies "I Love Pie" Sweet or Savory Receipt Contest! Bring your recipe and pie to the Yesterday Village Pavilion on October 12 for a chance to win our grand prize of $300 and a blue ribbon! Enter by September 8 to secure your spot in the contest!
